Memories of Eddie Cantor
March 1 • 12:00–12:45 p.m. • Lecturers: BRIAN GARI AND JANET GARI
A songwriter and performer, Brian Gari has produced over a dozen CDs on his grandfather, Eddie Cantor, as well as writing a new musical about him which is previewed in Brian’s CD Songs For Future Musicals. Brian’s mother, Janet Gari, is the youngest of Eddie and Ida Cantor’s five children. Singer, songwriter (“Merrily We Roll Along”), comedian, author and actor, Eddie Cantor was born in New York City in 1892. His show business career began in vaudeville, continuing through the Ziegfeld Follies to the place he occupied as one of the leading figures of his generation in the entertainment world. His grandson and daughter bring us a perspective nobody else can about this icon.
